On 29th March 2017, the CNFO in collaboration with UWI-CERMES, TNC, CRFM, FAO and CANARI conducted a workshop entitled “Pre-Forum Workshop on Capacity Development”. The workshop took place in Jamaica with a focus on CNFOs capacity development in order to strengthen the internal governance, leadership and operations of the organisation. The seven-member executive, staff and partners were in attendance. This meeting preceded the 15th Meeting of the Caribbean Fisheries Forum which the CNFO was invited to attend as observers.
In the evening of the CNFOs capacity development meeting the Executive had a semi-social gathering with the fisheries officers. Members of the CNFO executive were introduced to the assembled fisheries officers from CRFM member states and staff of the CRFM Secretariat. The executive was well received and praised for the progress that the CNFO had made over the years.
According to Mr. Winsbert Harry, CNFO’s Fisheries Liaison Officer, the gathering was a great opportunity for him to introduce himself as the CNFO representative that will be communicating with the fisheries division in each country.
